12 July – The Ancient Tree Inventory and the…
Saturday 12th July 2025 1.30pm – 3pm at the Discovery Centre.
Presented by Doug Edworthy who is the Tree Warden for Brightling and Dallington parishes (which includes Dallington Forest near Battle).

Ancient woodland is not just about trees. Doug will explain what makes an ancient, veteran or notable tree and how you can add trees to the Woodland Trust’s nationally important Ancient Tree Inventory. He will also talk about the ‘wood-wide web’ beneath our feet, with its vital role in providing all trees, ancient and young, with nutrients and a means of tree-to-tree communication.
These talks are for members of The Friends of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve only. There is no charge, though donations are gratefully accepted. If you are not a member of The Friends but would like to attend, please JOIN US and let us know.
Limited places are available and booking for members of The Friends will open at 8.00am on 1st June.
Please note that dogs (except for guide dogs that have been pre-booked) are not allowed at talks.
